The mission of the Carl Perkins Consortium is to prepare students for the furture through current technological awareness, use, and training and to assure educators recognize the need for technology expansion in vocational technical programs.

The Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act is a state grant, administered by the United States Department of Education. The legislation is designed to expand and enhance approved vocational technical programs in Kansas high schools.

The new Perkins IV regulations direct the Greenbush Carl Perkins Consortium to operate under a State transition plan for the 2007-2008 school year. During this transition year, Consortium Advisory Committees will work with staff and experts to develop a five-year plan addressing the following activities: Academic and Technical Activities, including the implementation of Carrer Plans of Study; All Aspects of the Industry; program improvement, expansion and modernization; program size, scope & quality; inclusion of non-traditional students; articulation/post-secondary linkages; use of technology; professional development; program evaluation; and, special populations.

The Greenbush Carl Perkins Consortium historically has provided a broad range of vocational and technical initiatives including incorporating vocational technical education utilizing interactive distance learning and on-line instruction, providing high-tech equipment and requisite training, supporting teacher stipends and scholarships for training, providing support and technology to assist member technical education students in improving their reading and math skills, providing targeted staff development and providing on-site technical assistance to member districts.
