High School Teachers

Welcome to a new online resource designed especially for teachers. Our goal is to help you easily implement agriscience into the classroom at any grade level. Learn more about plant growth and get free activities by clicking on the links in the menu at the left. We hope that you will give us feedback about any curriculum or experiments you try in your classroom!

The "Know More..." section is background knowledge. Each of the experiments comes complete with four components:

  • Materials needed
  • Experiment outline
  • Resources
  • Alignment to the Kansas Science Standards

Objectives

Students will be able to:

  1. Understand the impact of genetically engineered plants and foods on the environment and human safety
  2. Understand the impact of pesticides and herbicides on plants and foods, the environment, and human safety

PLEASE NOTE:
The two experiments are similar but have different objects. The herbicide effect experiment is conducted using petri dishes and studies how herbicides act on plants. The resistance experiment is conducted using soil and studies how herbicides can be used and applied to the advantage of growers.
