Mission statement: To ensure the quality and continuation of education for children held within a detention setting.

The ESC is contracted by USD 248 to provide the education program at SEK Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Girard for adjudicated youth, 10-17 years of age. Juveniles generally live in eleven counties in Southeast Kansas.

Associated KS Public School district(s):
The SEK Regional Juvenile Dentention Center is housed in USD 248, although education staff works with thirty-three school districts in Southeast Kansas to align instruction from students' home districts.
