Program Description:

The Greenbush Interactive Distance Learning Network is the network operation control center for all distance learning services for member schools.  The network supports distance learning in 44 districts and 104 interactive video classrooms located in schools, community colleges, Regents universities, a Science/Biotechnology Education Center, an Astrophysical Observatory, a Rainforest, a Production Greenhouse, an Archaeology Dig and six IDL teaching studios at Greenbush.

Greenbush manages the technology, organizes high school and college classes, schedules events, and facilitates special projects on the distance learning network.

In addition, Greenbush secures funding resources for schools to purchase distance learning equipment and support and promote distance learning events in Kansas.  The award-winning Greenbush Academic Programs are core content lessons aligned to Kansas teaching standards to ensure learning acquisition necessary to meet or exceed state assessment requirements. The critical language component to distance learning services offers high school classes in Japanese, Arabic, and Mandarin Chinese.

Services we offer:

• Greenbush Interactive Distance Learning Network provides the following services to member schools:
• Technical support and guidance during planning of new classroom to final implementation, including site visits for consultation
• Supervision of classroom installation and testing of equipment after installation
• Advocate and advisor with service providers to establish circuit contract and/or equipment lease
• Support and guidance for E-Rate applications for funding support for appropriate equipment and circuits
• Training of district personnel to use distance learning classroom equipment and access scheduling website
• Academic programs--content-based academic programming aligned to Kansas standards
• Statewide collaborative training for distance learning classroom teachers for instructional strategies
• Computer mapping and scheduling of class connections
• Technical support and troubleshooting of room equipment and class connections
• Support for videoconferencing to other states or countries
• Bridging of technologies, as required
• Technical support for classroom equipment with vendors
• Technical support for classroom with Kan-Ed Network Operation Control staff
• Remote access to equipment for testing and restarting of stalled or failed equipment
• Initiate grant writing opportunities for funding of additional equipment
• Advocate for district for Kan-Ed services, including distance learning and internet access

Greenbush Interactive Distance Learning Network offers high school classes that are not available in schools. By sharing critical classes and sharing master teachers, schools save money while providing more classes and higher levels of curriculum than would be offered without distance learning. Greenbush works on behalf of member schools to operate efficient and effective distance learning technologies. Greenbush works with Kan-Ed, the statewide technology backbone, to ensure school-based equipment connects to remote sites seamlessly for classes and events. In addition, Greenbush organizes classes, maps video connections, and ensures success.

Pricing Information
Yearly membership: $5500 per district
Yearly academic program membership: In Kansas, $2500; other states: $3000 per year
Per academic program (pay as you go): $100 per program
