Program Description: Southeast Kansas Birth to 3 Program, also known as the Infant-Toddler program is a family-centered early intervention program with the primary purpose of helping families whose children have developmental delays or disabilities to learn, develop, and grow into healthy, happy preschoolers.
Services we offer: The following services are provided in the child's natural environment. The natural environment is usually the child's home or daycare. However, services have been at a mother's day out program or in the community. The therapist or teacher provides activities that the families can complete within daily routines, for example, improving speech during bath time or stretching during diaper change.
- audiologist
- nurse
- nutrition(dietician)
- occupational therapist
- physical therapist
- speech therapist
- early childhood special educator
- orientation and mobility specialist
- psychologist
How does this benefit schools: Early intervention has been shown to reduce the effects of delays and developmental disabilities have over the course of a person's lifetime. Early detection of a delay or a disability enables the child and family to receive services before entering school. Historically, 30% of children receiving early intervention services with Infant Toddler Services no longer require services by their third birthday and will be able enter classrooms along side of the rest of their peers.
