Technology Rich Classrooms

Program Description
The Technology Rich Classroom project through SEKESC provides a facilitator to guide and assist participating teachers in developing effective teaching practices that more powerfully infuse technology in their classrooms. The facilitator works with teachers to employ powerful technology integration strategies in classrooms that include the creation of technology-based lessons and instructional activities, some of which can be published on the Web and used by students for both in-class and out-of-class learning activities. The facilitator uses an in-class mentor model to support the participating teachers. The in-class mentoring efforts of the facilitator will be leveraged with technology professional development activities and priorities that immerse teachers and students in authentic learning activities in prescribed curriculum areas that ultimately enable teachers and students to become effective technologists, problem-solvers, researchers, and communicators.

The facilitator assigned to districts devotes three to four hours per week in EACH classroom of assigned teachers (for a total of 12-16 hours in the district) in the participating schools.

Services we offer:

  • Provide 10 professional development days with facilitation and assistance in designeing and implementing project-based lessons which are enhanced by technology.
  • Conduct weekly classroom visits which include coaching, mentoring technology support, trainings, and co-teaching.
  • Provide continuous online and telephone support from a technology integration specialist
  • In addition to providing facilitator services for technology rich classrooms, SEKESC also provides evaluation services for funded districts.  The evaluation component consists of administration of pre and post assessments, classroom observations, and other evaluation activities as per the funded grant proposal.  The evaluator assigned to each TRC project is also responsible for working with the district in the completion of the final grant report once the grant period is completed.

How does this benefit schools:

  • Develops technology skills and knowledge for participating teachers
  • Engages students in their learning through the effective use of technology
  • Utilize Project-based learning strategies in the classroom
  • Empowers teachers to grow and sustain in a technology rich environment
