Program Description: Since 1999, more than 80 school districts in Kansas have partnered with YouthFriends Kansas at Greenbush to implement and manage the safest and most effective school-based mentoring programs possible. By connecting students with caring adult volunteers in schools, YouthFriends promotes success, encourages healthy behaviors and buildsstronger communities. YouthFriends helps school districts achieve their strategicobjectives by providing comprehensive tools, training, technology and support to sustain successful school-based mentoring efforts that meet or exceed national best practice standards.

- Addressing liability concerns by offering prudent risk management protocols including quadruple background screening of all volunteers and thorough training and selection of volunteers

- YouthFriends Kansas volunteers have dedicated 447,059 hours to Kansas students

- 85.4% of students felt they had a good connection with their YouthFriend
- 84.9% of students felt their time spend with their YouthFriend was valuable
- 87.4% of volunteers felt overall that their YouthFriends experience had been of value to them
- 84.4% of volunteers felt YouthFriends has been of value to the schools in which they were placed
- 92.2% of volunteers would encourage others to be a YouthFriend
- 97.6% of school staff felt that YouthFriends was of value to the students that participated
- 97% of school staff felt that YouthFriends was of value to their school
- 86.2% of parents gave an overall positive rating to YouthFriends
- 85.3% of parents indicated their child’s YouthFriend experience has been of value to him or her

YouthFriends Kansas Fee Structure July 1, 2009-June 30, 2010
- YouthFriends Schools District: $1500
- School Districts Utilizing YouthFriends Corps Only: $500
Additional Fees Volunteer screenings above 40 volunteers per year: $40 each
