Leaders of Alternative Learning Conference

Leaders of Alternative Learning

Educators working with youth and adult students in alternative educational settings are invited for two days of learning and sharing at the Leaders of Alternative Learning Conference, set for Feb. 11-12 in Wichita.

If you work in a virtual program, a special day program, an adult diploma completion program, or a traditional high school alternative program, this conference is for you.

  • Learn about exemplary practices and effective dropout prevention strategies.
  • Connect and share with educators on critical topics, including trauma-informed practices, school climate, social-emotional learning, data, and professional self-care.
  • Explore and learn about unique legal issues that affect alternative schools.
  • Examine other exemplary alternative/day school programs.
  • Participate in interactive learning and much more.

Keynote speaker: Dr. Randy Watson

Dr. Randy Watson, Kansas Commissioner of Education, will share his vision for ALL learners, a vision demanding employability and citizenship skills and moving away from a “one-size-fits-all” system. This vision calls for a student-focused system that provides support and resources for individual success.
