EDUCATORS ARE OUR CULTURE HEROES
In a time when teachers, support staff and administrators are under growing demands and pressure, Courage to Teach® provides educators with an opportunity to reconnect with other teachers and remind us why we became a teacher in the first place.
Are you an educator who:
- Is passionate about your work, but trying to sustain yourself in the midst of heavy demands?
- Wants to continue a life-long interest in personal and professional growth?
- Is committed to aligning your personal values with your professional practice?
- Would like to rekindle a spark for your vocation and your calling as an educator?
- Is seeking ways to revitalize your educator’s heart, mind and spirit?
This one-day retreat invites you to put aside the planning and grading, and give yourself a single day to nourish your teaching heart. You will be provided the opportunity for rest, renewal, and re-engagement with your identity and integrity. Come join others like yourself and discover a unique kind of professional development.
This one day introductory retreat is based on the Circle of Trust® approach developed by Parker J. Palmer and the Center for Courage & Renewal. Unlike many professional development opportunities that use lectures to distill information from an expert, the Courage & Renewal approach uses time-tested practices that support the development of interpersonal relationships through structured sharing and time for individual reflection. Participants will learn and practice the skills of deep listening and open questions that support healthy relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians.
Together we will seek to understand, honor, and celebrate brave conversations, practice deep listening, and reconnect with our love of teaching/leading in community with one another. This retreat is open to all educators and administrators from all backgrounds and beliefs, all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, ages, religions, abilities, identities, and experience.
