Literacy and Instructional Coaching Consortium

Strengthening Instruction. Building Capacity. Supporting Continuous Improvement.

What is the Consortium?

Literacy and instructional coaches partner with teachers, principals, and district leaders to strengthen instructional practices, improve learning environments, and support continuous school improvement.

Through the Greenbush Literacy & Instructional Coaching Consortium, districts can access coaching and consulting tailored to their instructional priorities. Coaches work alongside educators through collaborative planning, classroom observations, modeling, feedback, and conversations about student learning and instructional practices.

This work supports high-quality instruction across grade levels and content areas, strengthens structured literacy efforts, and helps districts build the systems and capacity needed to sustain improvement over time.

The Literacy & Instructional Coaching Consortium offers flexible participation options to support district priorities, from focused coaching for a specific team or instructional goal to sustained partnerships that strengthen teaching and learning over time.

How Can the Consortium Support Your District?

Support is tailored to your district’s needs and instructional priorities.

Who Can Participate?

The consortium offers flexible opportunities to support different roles and needs within a district.

  • District and building administrators seeking to strengthen instructional leadership and align professional learning with school improvement goals.
  • Individual teachers, including early-career educators, seeking focused support for instructional planning, implementation, and professional growth.
  • Grade-level teams and teacher teams working toward shared teaching, learning, curriculum, and instructional goals.
  • District instructional coaches seeking professional guidance, mentoring, and opportunities to strengthen their coaching practice.

Districts can select a participation option based on the level of support needed and the priorities they want to advance.

What Does Coaching Look Like?

Coaching is designed to connect professional learning with the everyday work of teaching and leading. Depending on the district’s goals and participation option, coaching and consulting may include:

  • Collaborative lesson planning and intentional instructional design.
  • Modeling effective teaching practices and strategies.
  • Classroom observations and instructional walkthroughs.
  • Timely, meaningful, and actionable feedback.
  • Coaching cycles built around individual teacher goals.
  • Analysis of student learning data and classroom observation evidence.
  • Support for professional learning aligned with identified needs.
  • Guidance for administrators as they monitor instructional practices and school improvement priorities.
  • Mentoring and development for district instructional coaches.

The goal is to help educators apply effective practices, reflect on their impact, and continue refining instruction to support student learning.
