Changing the View, Changes the Outcome: Teaching our most Challenging Students! – Girard
Changing the View, Changes the Outcome: Reaching, Teaching (and learning from) our most Challenging Students!
In this six-hour workshop, educators will dive into strategies to reach and teach their most challenging students. Through a systematic approach, participants will learn ways to support one another in co-regulation to support student regulation, and academic and social growth. Following the training educators will have opportunities to attend follow-up zooms to reflect and support their journey in working with our most challenging students.
*Teams of educators (2-4) are encouraged to attend this workshop together (teacher, admin, lead teacher, social worker, school psych, members of the crisis team, etc…) as this work takes a collaborative effort to shift mindsets and make change happen.
Presented by: Lindy McDaniel & Eileen Webster
Lindy McDaniel is the Assistant Director of Special Education for the West Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative. She was named the 2025 KASEA Special Education Administrator of the Year for her work in alternative programming. Her passion is to meet ALL learners where they are to support them in becoming their best selves. Within the past four years, she has transformed the way educators, families and the community see students with the most significant challenges. Through her guidance schools have been able to see students differently and welcome them back to their base schools through a sense of belonging and community. Here philosophy is, “When you coach and support educators in working with the most significantly challenged students, you give them skills to reach and teach a 1,000 more and we all become our best selves in the process.”
Eileen Webster is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 17 years in special education. She has served as an Autism/Behavior Consultant, Low Incidence Instructional Coach, and teacher in self-contained Autism and Life Skills classrooms. She works with students from PreK to 21 and is passionate about empowering teachers and staff to help their programs and students thrive.
