Gain essential knowledge of ESOL program requirements, student identification processes, and instructional frameworks. This foundational workshop covers federal and state mandates for English language learners, common student needs, and interpretation of language proficiency assessments, including Individual Learning Plan (ILP) scores and identification criteria. Participants will explore linguistic bias, language acquisition stages, and vocabulary development challenges while learning the eight SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) components for effective instruction.
