What’s Happening in Gifted Education?
You’ve reached the landing page for the Gifted Education Program at Greenbush! We serve students in the Tri-County area through a project based learning program. This page is intended to provide information to parents as well as information for educators.
Computer Science
Dive into the fascinating world of computer science! Our dynamic technical cohort is gearing up for an exciting 2025–2026 school year. We’ll continue to build our skills in Scratch, Java/JavaScript, and Python, while also exploring careers that utilize coding in creative and practical ways. In October, we’ll head to Wichita to visit Shocker Studios—home to an animation studio, motion-capture studio, and film and recording studios—where we’ll connect with student mentors who will guide and inspire us throughout the year.
College Prep
College Prep is designed to prepare you for success in college—and beyond. This year’s opportunities include a September visit to Wichita State University, a panel discussion with college departments, and conversations with Gifted alumni about life after high school. You’ll also take part in career panels highlighting healthcare, dentistry, engineering, and criminal justice, as well as job shadowing experiences and a job readiness workshop. We’ll provide resources for ACT preparation, and for those interested in mentorships or internships, we’ll help you make those valuable connections.
Project Based Learning
In this cohort, you’ll dive deep into a project you’re passionate about. Along the way, you’ll develop key skills in leadership, presentation, organization, research, and reflection, all while building expertise in your chosen topic. You’ll connect with an industry expert for an interview, create a prototype of your project, and find ways to engage the community in your work. The year will culminate with a showcase of your project at the EXPO on May 6, 2026.
First Lego League
Get ready to dig deep into history as this year’s UNEARTHEDTM robot game takes you on an exciting archaeological adventure. Your team will explore a dig site, carefully excavating artifacts hidden beneath layers of rock and soil and uncovering clues that reveal stories of past civilizations. As you journey farther into the dig, you’ll encounter more challenging terrain, including fragile ruins and delicate artifacts that require precision to retrieve without damage. Along the way, you’ll decode mysteries and help to share the stories they tell. Prepare to unearth hidden treasures and piece together the past as you embark on this thrilling journey of discovery!
